ABOUT THE JUNIOR SCHOOL

 

The Junior School aims to provide pupils with a sound British type of primary education which will equip them for entry to high quality secondary level schools in Cyprus and abroad. The school follows the British National Curriculum. French and Greek are also taught. European Languages (Spanish, Italian, German, French and English) are offered in the afternoon. Children who are not fluent in English are catered for. Support teaching is offered when required.  Regular in-service training sessions for teaching staff are held.


Sporting activities include soccer, basketball, volleyball, rounders and softball, tennis. hockey, swimming, dance and Tae Kwon Do. A residential science/geography field trip is arranged for older pupils. The school is now a part of the European Comenius project, and has a website. Music is popular and the pupils are entered for the Royal School of Music examinations. For Information Technology we have a fully equipped state of the art computer laboratory. Design and Technology was included in the curriculum as from September 2001.
All classrooms are air-conditioned.

ABOUT THE SENIOR SCHOOL


The Senior school is a continuation of the Junior school and  follows the Key stage 3  British  National Curriculum.  The curriculum is broad and well balanced and caters for students of varying abilities and aptitudes, building on their strengths, and focussing on areas of need by providing extra support classes.

THE CURRICULUM

As from Sept 2003, Year 7 curriculum was as follows:

Core subjects: - Maths, English , Science, ICT.

Foundation Subjects : Geography, History, Art and Design , PE, Music

Languages: Greek and French.

Non statutory subjects : RE, Citizenship and PSE (Personal and Social Education).

 

There is registration for year 8 with classes starting in September.

Eventually Key stage 3 will extend from years 7 ? 9, lead into Key Stage 4 with GCSE options in a wide range of traditional subject areas, as well as vocational GCSE subjects. IGCSE?s will also be offered.

In Years 10 ? 13 students will follow AS/A2 Levels, and/or VCE (Vocational A levels). which are recognised by British Universities.
 
STAFF

Teachers are all graduates from British Universities, holding degrees in Education and their specialist subject area.

 

EXTRA CURRICULAR ACTIVITES

Afternoon activities include: A wide range of sports (see list above for Junior school). In addition Archery, Scuba diving and Futsal, are offered according to demand.

EDUCATIONAL TRIPS

An overseas educational trip is organised in the summer term according to demand.

Students attend an environmental residential course in the Spring Term.
