Greenpeace campaigns in Cyprus is now deleted 'cos

of the following... the only bit we haven't removed is this, for obvious reasons...

'There have been many criticisms concerning Green Peace and its way of action. We only answer back with our accomplishments throughout the world. Green Peace is an organization independent from politics, financial and other interests and solely dedicated to the preservation of the environment and its habitats.'

The following is the correspondence with the office below;

Dear Jayne,

Thank you for bringing such an important issue to our attention.

Of course, we are very concerned that Greenpeace supporters in

Cyprus have not received the necessary response and attention that

is usually given to all those who have Greenpeace campaigns at

heart.

In order for us for to be able to correspond with these people, it is

necessary for us to receive the list of people who have contacted

you as well as those who have expressed an interest in joining our

organisation. If you could provide whatever data you have in this

regard, then we can ensure that these people hear from

Greenpeace and are updated on our ongoing activities in the

Mediterranean region.

It is essential that we receive this data as soon as possible in order

to avoid any further disappointment.

Please feel free to contact me whenever required on this subject.

Best regards,

Caroline

Dear Jayne,

Thank you for your prompt action in sending us the information we

asked for. I am writing to let you know that we have contacted these

people and updated them on our campaigns in the region.

I would also like to let you know that our office is in the process of

building a new regional web site that will include improved

technology and more comprehensive information on Greenpeace

campaigns in the region and abroad. It is our aim to attract people

interested in our office's campaigns to this one site in order for us to

be able to handle all requests more efficiently. Moreover, it is also

extremely difficult for us to keep external Greenpeace sites updated

- we receive many requests to include Greenpeace information on

external sites.

Our office has therefore decided to act in the best interest of our

members and interested parties by having these people come

directly to us, in order for us to be able to deal with their questions

and concerns more effectively. Whilst thanking you for your

willingness to support our cause for this long, we would like to ask

you to remove the site containing Greenpeace information and

subscription form. We would be glad if you could express your

support for our organisation by having a link to our site instead

(current address is http://www.greenpeacemed.org.mt)

Jayne, I thank you again for your co-operation and support. If we

can be of any help, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Warm regards,

Caroline

Hallo Jayne,

I am sending you once again the message that I wrote to you on

Sept 17 regarding the Greenpeace content on your web site. I can

see that the content is still up. I look forward to hearing your reply on

when you are planning to remove our content for the reasons that I

had explained below.

Thanks and warm regards,

Caroline Muscat

I replied saying that we would pass a link through, but would not remove pages (we never remove pages as they are linked in all over the place) and that we would not remove the forum we have running as it is a valuable resource for the local environment.

  Dear Jayne,

We are replying to your correspondence in October, wherein you refuse our request to remove Greenpeace content from your web site:

  http://www.windowoncyprus.com/greenpeace_in_cyprus.htm

You are using the name Greenpeace in connection with your activities that include the running of a web site that claims to represent Greenpeace, “This is a home page for Greenpeace in Cyprus”. I remind you that Greenpeace is the registered trademark of Stichting Greenpeace Council (incorporated in the Netherlands), both internationally and in Cyprus, and that you have not been provided with either a license or permission from the trademark owner to use the name Greenpeace.

We therefore request you provide written confirmation that you will immediately cease and desist from hosting material in the name of Greenpeace. Failure to provide such confirmation will prompt Greenpeace Mediterranean, the authorised licensee of the name "Greenpeace" in Cyprus, to appoint lawyers to pursue this infringement of our trademark through legal channels.

We would therefore strongly urge you to abide by this request, and send your written confirmation within 14 days to:

  Berto Hullu
Executive Director
Greenpeace Mediterranean
6, Manol Mansions
De Paule Avenue
Balzan
Malta
Fax: +356 21 490 782

Trusting in your immediate co-operation in this matter.

Yours sincerely,

Berto Hullu

Trust is a funny thing isn't it ?
I do not see the content we had on this page published anywhere else on a Greenpeace site though...  Hypocrisy rules ... unfortunately.
